Artist’s Statement

 

As a photographer, I look for the interplay of light and shadow, color and shape, studying how they define or conceal. I seek to provoke interest and a sense of curiosity. Parts of a scene that are removed from their context can seem unfamiliar and abstract. For example, there is no door in the picture above.; it is a shadow. There are scenes that we tend to overlook and simply pass by as we go about our daily lives. My hope is to help others to observe these scenes more fully. Seeing the details leads to a deeper engagement with the sights that surround us.
